The 250 is a good bike, but I would start out on a used bike. You're going to be hard on your first bike. You're going to abuse the clutch. You might even drop it once or twice before you get the hang of it.
If you got a bike that had a few bruises and scuffs on it, you could sell it after 6 months or a year for about what you paid for it, and by then you'd have a better idea of what you wanted. And all that time, while you were having fun riding the bike, you could look forward to your NEW bike.
